Implants

Dental implants are used for replacing single or multiple missing teeth. They give you the strength, stability, resilience and support that your natural teeth do.

Dental implants are surgically placed in your jawbone, where they serve as the roots of missing teeth. Because the bone in your jaw fuses well with titanium, the implants won't slip, make noise or cause bone damage the way fixed bridgework or dentures might. Titanium does not decay - however, bone loss from gum disease can still occur and it is still important to brush and floss around implants and schedule regular implant cleanings.

Here at Precision, we provide the proper surgical placement of implants, whch can take a few months. First, the infected natural tooth is removed and then a bone graft is placed where the tooth roots were to prevent shrinking of the bone. Then 3-4 months later when the site is confirmed healed visually and radiographically with a 3D Scanner, we place the implant - which is a simple 1-2 hour appointment. After 3 months, the implant is checked, then impressions are taken for the crown. We send the impressions to a lab and 1-2 weeks later, you have your final crown placement appointment. If the implant is to replace a tooth you were born without or missing, we use our 3D scanner to check if there is enough bone and if confirmed, the implant can be placed when you are ready. You still must wait the 3 months for the titanium to fuse with your jawbone.

This process may sound intimidating, but we provide very clear treatment planning and if you are nervous, our office offers an anti-anxiety pill that is prescribed to be taken right before the appointment.

Implants can also be used to stabilize your existing dentures. We can make implant dentures for both the top and bottom of the mouth, although lower implant dentures are most common/economical.
However for the upper dentures - if you have a shallow pallate or major bone loss, implants to stabilize your top denture can be life-changing.

We offer 2 kinds of implants: Thommen Implants or Mini Dental Implants (MDI).
